Mountain by the sea – Kori Song

It is a silent book.
​
Two people carried their death and sorrow, in the middle of the night; they walked by the mountain, they walked by the sea.  Looking for a comfortable place, to bury the cat they have lost.
​
Death does not have any sounds; by drawing a story without words, I tried to find the emotion within. There was no draft, and I drew out the vision in my head one by one. I stopped to figure out the ending, and complete the story after a few months.

About the author

Kori Song is an illustrator and artist currently based in Hong Kong.

Born in Chongqing, China, drawing has been a passion of Kori’s since she was little. She studied at Sichuan Fine Art Institute, in Chongqing, and chose graphic design as her career path. She moved to Hong Kong in 2019 and began a new chapter in her life as an illustrator. Kori’s expressive and colorful illustrations reflect her interest in the relationship and connections between cities and those who live in them. Sometimes she draws randomly, with subjects such as scenery from memory, or favorite things from daily life. Continuously improving and innovating, Kori finds happiness within her drawings.

​Her illustrations are selected for the 2020 Illustrators Exhibition of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair.
